Chibuike Yul The son of Pete Edochie, one of Nigeria’s greatest actors and a cinematic icon, and a notable Nigerian actor, Daniel Edochie is an Anambra State native. Yul Edochie was born on January 7th, 1982, and raised in the states of Lagos and Enugu, respectively.

Early Life

From 1984 until 1992, he started his schooling at Robinson Street Primary School and Lillian’s Day Nursery School. Between 1992 and 1998, he attended up to four secondary schools, all in Enugu, and graduated in 1998. These institutions were Marist Brothers’ Juniorate in Uturu, University Secondary School in Enugu, Ecumenical Community Secondary School, and New Haven Boys Secondary School.

He continued to the University of Port Hacourt after completing his secondary schooling to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts. His wife, May Aligwe, whom he met at the University of Port Hacourt, and they were married six years after they first met. At the age of 22, Yul Edochie wed his beloved in 2004, and the couple is now blessed with three children—three boys and one girl.

Career

At the age of 23, he made his Nollywood debut as a star in the film “The Exquires,” which also starred Chidi Mokeme and Jutus Esiri. He kept performing and continued to play supporting roles in other films until his big break came in 2007 when he appeared in the film “Wind of Glory” alongside Genevieve Nnaji and Desmond Elliot. Since getting his big break, he has been acting in a variety of positions in the business, particularly in home films.

He has a thorough understanding of the business and the kinds of abilities Nigeria can offer the globe because he watched his father perform in movies. He believed that Nigeria was not doing enough to support the film industry, therefore in an effort to develop the upcoming Nollywood actors and actresses, he founded his own film academy in 2015.

Yul Edochie informed the public in July 2017 that he has every intention of running for office in the election for governor of Anambra State. He ran for governor on behalf of the Democratic People’s Congress Party, and when the election for that position was held in November 2017, he finished 19th out of 37 candidates. 2018 saw Yul Edochie appointed as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Creative and Entertainment Media by the current governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano.

Personal Life

He has five older siblings and is the last child of Mr. Pete and Mrs. Josephine Edochie. He has maintained to demonstrate love for what he does despite having other family members who work in the Nollywood industry. He and his family are currently residing in Lekki, Lagos. His father, Pete Edochie, as well as other performers like Jim Iyke, Emeka Ike, Nonso Diobi, Charles Inojie, Robert Deniro, Al Pacino, and many others served as inspirations for him.
